Common Data Model for ADM/CMDB Integration

    CASE CHG-46371-19-301324:

Improvements are implemented in the (ASMSAdministrator) in the CMDB module. The following features are implemented in this change:

    Creating Native IC Categories

The creation is done in the console (ASMSAdministrator) of categories of “native” ICs inserted directly into the Database and associated with the assets that are automatically discovered through ADM.

Below are the categories of ADM and their corresponding categories in ASMS:

ADM Asset Type Origin (ADM) IC Category in ASMS (CMDB)
Application Applications installed on each of the workstations, notebooks and servers inventoried. E.g. “Word 2013” Application
Workstation Workstation inventoried in ADM. e.g. “BG-D-ACANON01” Personal Computer
Portable Laptop inventoried in ADM. e.g. BG-P-ACANON01” Personal Computer
Server Physical server inventoried in ADM. E.g. “SRVAPP01” Server
Operating system Operating system installed on each of the workstations, notebooks and servers inventoried. E.g. “Windows 2012 Server” Operating system
User Responsible or frequently used user of an asset inventoried in ADM. User

    Creating Native CI Relationships

The creation of “native” relationships inserted directly into the Database and associated with the assets that are automatically discovered through ADM is carried out.

Below are the categories of ADM and their corresponding categories in ASMS:

Category CI 1 (Father) Category CI 2 (Child) Direct Relationship Name (1->2) Inverse Ratio Name (2->1)
Application Personal Computer It runs in Runs
Application Server It runs in Runs
Personal Computer Operating system Used Installed in
Personal Computer User Responsibility of Responsible for
Server Operating system Used Installed in
Server User Responsibility of Responsible for

Adjustments to the CMDB option -> Integrations

A setting was made to the console (ASMSAdministrator), now in the CMDB -> Integrations it is possible to define a path for each IC category.

In addition to this, the option was added to allow adding a Token to the URL to perform authentication in the integration console if required. To enter the token you must enable the Token Required.

For more details on these changes, you can refer to the Administrator console manual. View Administrator’s Manual

    Automatic CI synchronization from ADM

The automatic creation of CIs from ADM was implemented so that it is additionally carried out through a batch process frequently configured from the ADM management interface and with a minimum that does not represent degradation in the performance of the applications (e.g. 1 hour). This process creates, queries, and updates the CIs in ASMS (CMDB) with their respective categories (based on the mapping established for the categories) and populating the following standard fields of an IC in ASMS (CMDB):

    Field in ASMS (CMDB)
    Name
    Category
    Brand
    Model
    Serial
    Responsible

View of CI detail in CMDB from case in ASMSSpecialist

A setting was made to the console (ASMSSpecialist) so that when a case is consulted, it allows the IC information to be displayed in a modal window in the CMDB. An icon is added next to the CI field to allow this visualization.

CI detail view in the Parameterized Integration (ADM) console from the case in ASMSSpecialist

A setting was made to the console (ASMSSpecialist) so that when a case is queried, it allows you to display in a modal window the information of the CI in console that has been configured in the CMDB integration.
